Update: Palestine encampment moves to St John's - Solidarity rally 6pm TODAY
Urgent call for action
The encampment for Palestine is now outside St John’s College.
St John’s has at least £3,213,000 invested in Israel and arms companies facilitating genocide including JP Morgan, HP, Siemens, Elbit, BAE Systems, Rolls Royce, General Electric, Palantir and Barclays.
Urgent call for solidarity - join the rally at 6pm Monday 2 June and write to St John’s urging the College to divest from Israeli genocide and apartheid and not to take repressive or disciplinary action curtailing protests.
WHY TARGET JOHNS? - A STATEMENT FROM CAMBRIDGE FOR PALESTINE
After harassment and barricading by Trinity College, our encampment moved to claim a liberated zone at St. Johns - note this is not a random choice. As per it's own disclosures, St Johns College, one of the wealthiest in Cambridge, invests upwards of 3.2 million in arms companies and companies complicit in israeli genocide.
We demand the following from St Johns, based on its disclosures:
- Divest from institutions and companies complicit in the ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestine.
- Reinvest into Palestinian communities by supporting Palestinian students, academics, and scholars at the University of Cambridge, support the reconstruction of higher education institutions in Gaza, and build lasting partnerships with Palestinian universities.
- Protect the academic freedoms and safety of all University of Cambridge affiliates and reverse targeted anti-protest policies that restrict pro-Palestine speech.
